Quick Answers

Does Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc. handle commercial HVAC, not just residential systems?

Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is a commercial-only mechanical contractor serving Phoenix, AZ, with no residential work — specializing in chilled water plants, boiler systems, rooftop units, air handling units, cooling towers, and heat pumps across healthcare, government, educational, and industrial facilities. The company holds Arizona license ROC070725 (C-79) for Commercial Air Conditioning & Refrigeration and has operated exclusively in the commercial and industrial space since 1979.

How do I get a quote for commercial HVAC work from Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc.?

Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc. can be contacted directly at their Phoenix, AZ location to discuss project scope and obtain a quote, as pricing depends on system type, building use, and project delivery method (prime contracting, CMAR, or subcontracting). The company self-performs all mechanical work and avoids double markups common with general contractors, which can affect overall project cost.

When should a commercial HVAC system be replaced?

A commercial HVAC system typically warrants replacement when repair costs approach or exceed 50% of equipment value, efficiency has significantly degraded, or the unit no longer meets building load requirements — factors a licensed mechanical contractor like Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc. can assess during a site evaluation. Summa has executed chiller replacements and central plant upgrades for major Arizona clients, including the Central Arizona Project.

About

Summa Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is a Phoenix-based, self-performing commercial mechanical contractor that has delivered HVAC construction, central plant work, and process piping across Arizona since 1979, making it the state's 12th oldest mechanical contractor. The company operates across every major commercial building type in the Phoenix metro — including healthcare facilities, government buildings, educational institutions, office buildings, industrial warehouses, and mixed-use properties. Systems expertise spans central chilled water plants, central boiler plants, rooftop units, air handling units, cooling towers, and heat pumps, with licensed crews of welders, pipefitters, and plumbers performing all fabrication and installation in-house. Summa holds six active Arizona ROC licenses covering general engineering, general commercial contracting, commercial boilers and steamfitting, commercial plumbing, commercial air conditioning and refrigeration, and commercial sheet metal. The company also maintains an award-winning safety record, with crew certifications including OSHA-30, Confined Space, Lock-out Tag-out, and Asbestos Awareness — requirements that matter to facility managers overseeing occupied healthcare or government buildings. More than 80% of Summa's business comes from repeat clients, and the firm is active on multiple job order contracts with the State of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and the City of Phoenix. Facility managers seeking a prime contractor who eliminates subcontractor layers — and the double markups and communication delays that come with them — will find Summa's delivery model suited to complex, schedule-sensitive projects within a 25-mile radius of Phoenix.
