The picture shows my furnace exhaust. As condensation forms in the pipe, some drops of water will leak out of the middle part of the pipe (where previous homeowner must have tried to repair it in the past). The fix does not require extensive work. The pipe must be measured, some new PVC cut, and couplers installed. If all glued properly, issues of condensation are gone. So, what was my estimate? $1208.40. This includes 2 hours of labor and all parts. I figured there was a mistake because there is no way this job should take 2 hours and the parts are probably less than $50 (if that). Mind you, I had already paid $99 for this consultation. Scheduling is something Moncrief does very well. I figured that the work could be completed same day since these parts should be on every truck (or at least easily retrieved from a storehouse). No. Also, this $99 fee is not subtracted from the work total, so, in actuality, the bill for this work is $1308.40 (and two 4-hour window appointments until completion). I called Moncrief after receiving the invoice. Was there a mistake? A supervisor was asked to call me later. He did respond the following day. He "did his homework" and said that the job should not have been set at 2 hours. Instead, it should be one hour. So, cost of the job should be $644.58. They also tacked on a 10% "customer satisfaction" discount for a final amount of $580.12. By my calculation, that means labor for this job is approximately $600/hour. You can decide if that is appropriate. I asked the supervisor if it is true that labor would be that high, he was not able to tell me what the actual labor cost was. They do not show that calculation on the invoice. But he said, "labor is expensive". I agree, but THIS expensive? I just want to be truthful so others can make their own decisions. I had been happy with Moncrief prior to this. They installed an attic AC unit. Now, imagine this happened to someone who had no idea about the actual work and trusted Moncrief. They would have paid $1308.40. I'm sure the work would have been fine. Thank you for your time, and I hope this was helpful in any decisions you make.

Great experience with setting up a repair through Moncrief for my air handler. I was able to get scheduled the next day. Barry Holman is an expert technician and was efficient and communicative throughout the process. I was able to see exactly what was wrong, in this case a backed drainage pipe. Pricing was high, but the service was excellent and I would work with Moncrief for future home needs.

The service was fantastic! They were incredibly helpful, kind, and would definitely recommend them to anyone. They were thorough in their work and ensured they examined everything necessary to identify the root cause of my issue and address it effectively, rather than simply treating the symptoms. Highly recommend!!
