About

J E Brown Co Mechanical Contractors is a San Francisco-based mechanical contractor serving commercial properties within a 25-mile radius, including Oakland and the broader East Bay. The company specializes in complex hydronic heating and boiler systems — equipment that many Bay Area contractors decline to service. One verified client review documents 17 consecutive years of boiler maintenance on a 17-unit system with no reported service failures, reflecting the kind of continuity that property managers and facility teams depend on for critical mechanical infrastructure. Reviewers consistently highlight technician responsiveness and follow-through on insurance documentation and post-service questions, which matters in commercial settings where third-party reporting and compliance records are part of the job. The company's 5/5 Google rating, while based on a focused review set, reflects client relationships measured in years rather than one-off calls. For Oakland facility managers overseeing older mixed-use, multifamily, or office buildings with hydronic or steam-based heating systems — common in Bay Area construction stock — J E Brown Co Mechanical Contractors offers specialized expertise and a documented track record of long-term commercial mechanical service.

I had a problem with my hydronic heating system and had a lot of trouble finding plumbers who were willing and or able to repair these systems. JEBRown was recommended and I called to make an appointment it took 2 weeks for someone to be able to come but when Al came he was on time, took time to explain the two solutions along with costs and then arranged for someone to come the following day to do the repair. They arrived in the time frame promised, were courteous helpful, efficient and did the job speedily and cleanly. I highly recommend this company for any hydronic heating system problems. Thanks to all I now have hot water again.
