Discount Mechanical Heating and Plumbing

I hired Discount Mechanical and Heating in Anchorage in January 2026 to replace my furnace. The new furnace itself is good quality and is performing well so far. Unfortunately, the installation was subpar and demonstrated poor craftsmanship. The crew bent and crushed the existing ductwork to force it to fit the new unit. Because of this, my 14x20x1 filters no longer seat properly — there’s a significant gap, so the filters aren’t sealing and aren’t filtering the air effectively. This will likely allow more dust and debris into the system and could shorten the lifespan of the new furnace. Additionally, where the bottom of the new unit meets the existing ductwork (on the warm/supply air side), they pried open part of the duct and left an open hole. I had to seal it myself with my own duct tape. The sheet metal remains bent and pried open. I complained about these issues and they came back out. All they did was tighten a bracket that was already loose (another sign of the sloppy initial work). They made no attempt to repair the crushed ductwork or the pried-open section. Installation quality is just as important as the equipment itself. After this experience, I will not use Discount Mechanical and Heating again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

I tell you these people are awesome. My forced air heater went inop 2 mornings ago. I used Angel and it got me to them , they called me later that day and he offered me an after hours diagnosis but you have to pay the after hours which I didn’t care. I needed my heat. Their repairman John is so nice and very thorough and figured out the issue wasn’t easy. Bad gas valve. Looked it up and luckily someone had it in anchorage unfortunately it was too late the job needed to continue another day. We said our good byes and told me the main office would call in AM. Next morning the young lady offered me an availability for that night. I was so happy most places told me they were 3.5 to 4 weeks out. I had called 5 places. Discount Mechanical were the only ones that miraculously got me in thank god. I highly recommend them. Oh John arrived that evening and about an hour later replaced the bad valve with the good and bingo it started. I was so relieved and happy. John is an awesome technician and the people are very nice and understanding. Highly recommended

Robert was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process.
